Just thought I'd add a photo of Crac as we saw it.One of my boyhood dreams was to visit Crac des Chevalliers which we did today once we had found it in the fog and got thoroughly lost (again) - it is hard with signs in arabic on anything but major roads and not more than 10 words of arabic between us....It was absolutely fantastic ..real sense of history as you stand on the battlements looking towards the med (inbetween the clouds) on one side, snow capped mountains on the other and the central plain of Syria way below. I spent most of the time trying to stop kids approaching the edges of precipitous drops - no railings here! but between scares excellent! |
